Fullerton Tea House

Located at Fullerton Community College, this tea house and garden replace a storage building and an old greenhouse. The project was to redesign the site and create a space that separates itself from the Spanish missionary architecture surrounding it. To introduce more nature in the area, traditional and modern Japanese architecture and landscape design elements were incorporated. The design is inspired by The Book of Tea written by Kakuzo Okakura. The garden path leads signifies the first stage of meditation, allowing students and staff to break the connection from the outside world as they head on to the tea room for a tea ceremony.
